Associate Service Engineer 

Description: An intensive 15-month training program makes the Associate Engineer an expert in the technical and commercial skills required to solve customer problems.  The development program combines classroom and on-the-job training.  Training includes knowledge of bearings and other power transmission components, customers’ applications, company business operating philosophies, and sales techniques.  This program having three focus areas makes the Timken Associate Engineer Development Program one of the most respected in the industry. Candidates should enjoy contact with people, have good communication skills and be self-motivated


Majors: BS in Engineering(Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Agricultural)


Location: Training in Canton, Ohio. Relocation required after training is completed to one of the following regions:   Northeast, Southeast, West and South, or Central.


Project Areas: Opportunities to work on special projects that involve a broad range of tasks from engineering data retrieval and synthesis, equipment teardown/rework/upgrade, parts acquisition to documentation and development of instruction manuals/workbooks.


Post Development Program: The Service Engineer will complete lab projects such as returned bearing product inspection and effecting damage investigation process flow, fabrication of special tools/fixtures, training demonstration hardware preparation/modification/repair, quality spill support (on or off-site), related product repairs, customer field calls to assist service or sales engineer. The Service Engineer will be responsible for a group of customers within a specified region and will make both proactive and reactive calls to these customers.  The Service Engineer works not only to solve bearing performance problems, but also to prevent them.  In most cases, the service engineer will be developing relationships with shop maintenance supervisors as well as plant administration.
