Timken provides financial support through grants from the Timken Company Charitable Trust and corporate donations made to various charitable organizations in our local communities. We support local programs that enhance education, support economic development, improve quality of life and help ensure that communities’ basic needs – food, shelter and safety – are met.
Support for Education
A strong education system is vital to a strong community. To this end, we support programs that encourage school children to succeed, graduate and go to college. Among the programs we support are Junior Achievement, programs focused on engineering and manufacturing career development at local colleges and universities, after-school programs such as the FIRST Robotics Competition, and neighborhood mentoring and tutoring programs.
Our Timken Company Educational Fund provides university scholarships to children of Timken associates around the world, who can compete for this funding in their senior year of high school.
Support for Economic Development
As leaders in our communities, we recognize the importance of a thriving local economy. Timken supports chambers of commerce and economic development offices through targeted grants to aid local priorities. In addition, Timken associates provide expertise as consultants, mentors or members of advisory boards that help promote local and regional economic growth.
Support for Arts and Recreation
Quality of life is important to our associates and neighbors. That’s why Timken supports select arts and recreation organizations. While we typically do not sponsor individuals or local athletic teams, we have sponsored local arts organizations, parks and green space, community sporting events and the like.
Support for Basic Needs
Food, shelter, clothing, safety: These are the basic needs of people living in our communities. When our neighbors are in need of these essentials, we help ensure the community can meet these needs through our support of the local United Way.
Each year we donate more than $1 million USD to United Way through corporate donations and employee campaigns. In communities where United Way is not available, or where there are one-time events that need extra support, we provide grants to local agencies established to meet these needs.
Timken also joins forces with Habitat for Humanity, helping provide affordable housing in our communities. We support Habitat for Humanity financially as well as with volunteer commitments from our associates.
